It'll be fascinating to see who gets the MEX vs ENG game. If
confederational neutrality is held (as it is thus far), that
rules out most of the big guns - all UEFA plus Elfath and
Barton. Given that the winner plays the winner of BRA vs NOR,
that rules out the three big Brazilian names. And there'd be
politics around appointing an Argentinian.
So either they break neutrality and appoint a big UEFA name -
Marciniak or Letexier maybe - or they risk one of the 'lesser
known' names from CONMEBOL or AFC. Faghani possibly works, but
not had a great tournament.

I think it’s got Faghani written all over it if neutrality is

I love Faghani and think he's a great ref but his movement at
WC2026 has been pedestrian enough at sea level, let alone at
high altitude!
Great appointment for Oliver - a host nation against a team who
are notoriously difficult to referee in Morocco - a big chance
of tempo from his all-European encounters so far.

Marciniak would be my bet but if they go for non UEFA I would
have to say Barton or Faghani
