Mexico v Ecuador - Slavko Vinčić (SVN)

This one has been a fiery match and at one stage in the first
half I thought it was going to be a really tough night. The
second Mexico goal calmed things down a bit. Near the end, an
Ecuadorian player was sent off for covering his mouth when in
conversation with an opponent. Clearly a correct call.
Not always his biggest fan but I thought Vinčić was
very good, as he was in one of his previous matches I watched.
He showed his experience and dealt with potential flashpoints
with strong authority. I imagine he will get another match,
potentially a Quarter Final?

I've also never historically been a huge fan of his, and
attributed much of his advancement to sharing the same
nationality as the UEFA president and the fact he can be
deployed as a neutral referee easily to big European games.
However, he has developed into one of the best referees for
handling stormy games like this one - and I think he is having a
very good World Cup so far. Could be a good outside bet for the
final, especially if France progress and so Turpin/Letexier are
ruled out.

I thought he was very good , didn’t see Makkelies game but if he
had a good one he’s long overdue a final . With that being said
as I said before the tournament think they may stray away from
UEFA ( depending on which countries reach the final ) but so far
I would say Barton is a good shout and Makkelie. Would love
Turpin to get it if France dont go all the way

hi,
as with all of the other matches so far in this WC (except
england's fixtures) i've only watched the highlights, but
everything seemed to be spot on - including piero hincapie (of
arsenal [emoji37]) being sent off for covering his mouth whilst
in a confrontational situation with a mexican player -
absolutely no excuse for that [emoji53]
