I have just seen a report from The Telegraph, saying this:
“ EXCLUSIVE: English referees are to undergo a corporate rebrand
next season, with their organisation PGMOL to be known as “Pro
Ref”
The change will be part of a drive to better explain their place
in the English game”

Human language reached a peak over a century ago. Pro Ref is
just the latest example of mankind’s slow, though no longer
imperceptible, return to Neanderthal grunts.

Well that should make some players and coaches find it easy to
understand.

And the US equivalent set up under Webb is Pro Referee
Clearly took many meetings, brainstorming sessions and thought!!

And of course ‘Pro Ref’ is PR - which is exactly what it is
mostly about these days.

Now confirmed on PGMOL instagram,

Appears to also confirm the merging of SG1 and SG2, with a "new
professional group serving the PL and championship"
Maybe this was their way around contractual issues of merging
the two groups

IMO this is just PGMO with a new logo, as I'm a firm believer
that if you don't change personnel at the top you can't expect
changes to filter down however I'm happy to be proven wrong in
the forthcoming season.
