Michael Oliver nears English record

I make it that France v Norway was his 50th international, one
more needed to equal the English record of 51 held by Arthur
Ellis. Anthony Taylor is in 3rd on 45.

How many internationals did Lord Elleray do?

I had Elleray down for 78 international matches.

The National Football Museum's profile of Jack Taylor states he
took charge of over 100 internationals - although I can't find
anything confirming that number.

Confusion sometimes arises when club international games are
added to full internationals. I imagine JT was referencing only
the latter.
I read somewhere that Italy’s famous Concetto Lo Bello refereed
93 internationals - but 59 of those were in club competitions.
Signor Lo Bello holds a record that will never be beaten in the
modern era: he took charge of no fewer than 328 Serie A games,
an astonishing total. Since his retirement, the only ones to
come anywhere near (though not really anywhere near) were Sergio
Gonella (175) and the man I regarded as the joint best
international referee of his day, Paolo Casarin (112), held
equally in my esteem with his compatriot Luigi Agnolin (87).
Sorry, I went off on another one of my tangents then, didn’t I!

The eyes say it all. I don’t have a figure of Serie A matches
for Signor Collina, but I didn’t think it was as high as the
others. Pray tell. (I know one thing: it won’t be 329).

According to
HTML https://www.worldfootball.net/person/pe41542/pierluigi-collina/matches-as-referee/<br
/>he refereed a total of 240 Serie A matches.

Thank you ARF. I hadn’t realised Collina was in Italy’s top
flight for as long as he was (15 years I’ve just found out) - I
rather lost track of Serie A when Channel 4 stopped showing live
matches (James Richardson, Peter Brackley, Gary Bloom - and even
the legendary Kenneth Wolstenholme - happy days!).
But Collina was still 88 shy of the man from Syracuse!

I misread the stats - they only relate to matches where one of
