No foul from Pickford but a clear foul by Konsa. I think that's
the last we've seen from Mr. Martinez in this tournament.

To those saying Martinez has tournament over, id suggest you re
examine the situation. Martinez has his hands tied, the AR put
the flag up for offside, he's not going to go against that if
hes not certain. Its VARs fault if a mistake has been made.
Possibly tournament over for VAR yes, but for the referee he was
excellent in the game and cannot be held fully responsible for
       the PK incident.
Excellent judgement re Pickford incident btw.

Provided FIFA deem the decision incorrect, then first and
foremost the referee is responsible for the penalty not being
awarded on-field, particularly given that he was barely in the
same postcode at the moment the challenge happens, and did a
poor job of getting an angle on it. If FIFA deem the on-field
decision incorrect, there is then the question of whether it is
deemed to meet the "clear and obvious" threshold for the VAR to
recommend a review. Only then is it (also) VAR's "fault".

Didn’t see an offside, the first pass is clearly on and thought
the second pass was defender. The no penalty I think probably is
but could be within the bounds of not clear and obvious.
Attacker moves towards Konsa, hips meet, then Konsa’s leg makes
contact with lower thigh. Seen em given, seen em not. So I can
live with it…also no issue if he’d been sent to the screen. The
only thing is that I thought it was done and dusted pretty
quickly given how long a similar decision took for Messi’s pen
       the day before.
For me it continues to show how VAR rarely works for opinion
       decisions.

For me when watching live, I come to wrong conclusions about the
       main incidents.
I thought Pickford committed a clear foul in real time but was
amazed to see him give an England FK. But on replay there was
hardly much in the challenge at all.
Again, I initially said ‘great challenge’ when Konsa dived in
but on replay I thought it was a pretty clear penalty myself. A
tad surprised there was no VAR review but the threshold I
believe is much higher in the World Cup.
Incidents aside, I didn’t think Martinez performed at the level
we’ve seen from referees this tournament and are now expecting.
Foul detection felt largely inconsistent to me and I felt he was
very reactionary to players’ reactions which didn’t come across
       great on TV to me.

Also with people getting confused on the offside with the
penalty incident, that occurred after the challenge by Konsa
because the Ghana player that was felled took a shot towards
goal that hit his own teammate who was beyond the second to last
English defender (and was in front of the ball).

Fully conversant with Law 11 but I thought the ball hit the
Ghana player who was in an offside position from a deliberate
play of the ball by an England defender so there was no offside
       offence.
