Japan vs Tunisia - 1000th FIFA World Cup Match

FIFA are marking the occasion of the 1000th match with a special
one off referees kit. Instead of the usual black stripes and
logo on the flamingo kit for this game it’ll be replaced by gold
as well as a gold sleeve badge

looks good - but as the match is on at 05:00 bst, i think i'll
wait to see it in the highlights package at a more friendly hour

I've seen a post online about whether the World Cup Final
officials should get a gold kit, which I am fully for.
I think it'd be a great move and would definitely help to
recognise Team One, rather than just the standard kits.
Although, I think it may slightly depend on who gets to the
final and what kit colour they wear. However, I am sure those
behind the scenes will sort it all out if a gold referee kit is
on the cards.

There’s nothing new under the sun! There were gold referee
shirts at the 1994 World Cup in the USA.
