I only got home at half time but heard the half time interview
with England assistant head coach Anthony Barry. Frankly I'd
never heard of the guy and was stunned at how candid he was re
England's first half performance. Not something you normally
hear during international matches, but it worked, and full marks
to the England management for making it happen. I shall await
half time next Tuesday with renewed interest.

       hi,
even though the interview only lasted about 30 seconds or so,
you could see how wound up he was. you could sense the
frustration in his voice and it would appear, based on the first
10 minutes of the second half, what was communicated to the
       players worked.
wonder if these brief touchline/tunnel 'chats' always happen but
aren't often shown, or whether this is a new initiative for the
       WC?

He's a young coach going places. Tuchel inherited him at
Chelsea and was so impressed he took him to Bayern, and then
again to England. He's also had roles with the Republic of
Ireland and Belgian national teams, all of this by the time he
       is 40.

Former Accrington Stanley midfielder. Can't remember where he
went when he left. Apparently did a dissertation on the subject
       of throw ins.

       stanley > wrexham...
as coaching staff - wigan > chelsea > republic of ireland >
