I'm going to raise a question for discussion regarding the
Premiership, but it applies to all high-level rugby
championships.
Why is it so difficult in rugby for them to disclose who the
substitution controllers are; the technical zone managers and
the reserve referees in general (fourth, fifth and sixth
officials)?
For example, in the World Cup, they don't even show the credits.
In the last World Cup, Jaco Peyper suffered an injury during the
quarterfinals and needed a substitution, and I only know who the
fourth official was (Australian Jordan Way) who took over as
assistant to Karl Dickson because I watched the game. In other
sports, it's much easier to have this information publicly
available. I believe that captains, coaches, and managers
receive this information on the scorecard, but I would like it
to be available to the press and the general public. Those of
you who follow refereeing, do you know who is in the role of 4th
and 5th official for the Premiership final?

Thank you for the information. For the final game they also
chose two excellent referees for reserve roles as fourth and
fifth officials. Speaking of Maxwell-Keys, he was also a
substitute fourth official in the Six Nations match England vs
Ireland game when referee Andrea Piardi injured his calf; Pierre
Brousset took over as referee and Maxwell Keys replaced the
Frenchman as assistant referee.

CMK did most of the running about, taking drinks onto MC at
conversions etc. LP stayed mainly hidden. Very much in the
background

Firstly, the better team on the day won
Secondly, nothing the officials did or didn't do hugely affected
the result
Exeter looked like a team who had "gone to the well" once too
often in the last month
Away victories at Leicester and Bath sandwiched a Royal thumping
of Sarries at home had served only to raise hope and
expectation.
Northampton, especially when they cut loose, are an awesome
side. They used the sin bin period slightly better than we did
and put enough distance between the two teams.
The TMO became more involved as the game went on. The
assessments of try/no trouble were spot on. The 2 challenges
that resulted in YCs were v similar, either both yellow or
neither.
I would like to see the Pollock challenge again as it looked v
poor in real time
MC was consistent throughout, smiled at times.
Lovely moment at the end where he hugged Max Norrey who'd left
the game v early with a damaged ankle
Great atmosphere bathed in South London sunshine
