break of trophy presentation protocol

hi,
It's being widely reported that in a break to tradition, instead
of the world cup trophy being collected from a pedestal by the
winning team's captain, it's going to be presented by President
Trump. This has apparently been endorsed by FIFA who have also
suggested he will remain on the celebration stage with the
winning team - much like when Chelsea won the Club World Cup
last year.

I'm glad I haven't watched so much as a second of this farce

That is two of us then and I was happy watching England win the
World Cup darts and there is also the Womens' World Cup Cricket
to watch ---weather permitting. Fine up here in Northumberland
but raining in Southampton -----come on bmb ---get it sorted,
it's just down the road from you.

I can seriously see a winning player getting annoyed enough to
push the orange clown off the stage, and as amusing as that
would be I suspect it wouldn't end well.

It's been nice in Poole - we don't care about them up the road!
Most AFCB fans who like cricket all follow Hants not Dorset -
useless fact of the day!

Telly’s packed up. I had already decided that if this happened,
I wouldn’t replace it, so won’t see much more of this World Cup
except the occasional match down the pub, probably including the
Final.
Now you’ve told me that about Trump hogging the limelight at
that presentation, I shall make sure I leave the premises in
good time to avoid it!

Infantino has certainly agreed that his best mate will be
presenting the Trophy after watching the final together.
I am now hoping that Iran will perform miracles and win the
Trophy. Fingers crossed.

It will be nice if the fans break out into a song the Aussie
fans shouted in the streets as he is about to present it.
He will have to remain on the stage as there wont be any chance
of him leaving seeing as nobody will get near to assist him in
the furore.
I wont be viewing after the final whistle

As the Queen did in 1966

Oh, good point, Doowe. I’d forgotten that.
Now I’ll have to re-consider my “on principle” intention not to
watch the trophy presentation this year!
