Iran v New Zealand (Cesar Ramos - Mexico)

Entertaining first half! Ramos sticking to his style of pushing
leniency to the extreme but it’s going well for him, definitely
missed a yellow for reckless though. Iran thought they’d scored
again in added time but a good offside flag by AR1. Still just
the 1 OFR in the 16 games so far

An end-to-end game being officiated effectively.
The game has barely stopped, and asides a missed YC (perhaps 2)
he hasn’t fallen into any traps.
I wonder how the Haiti - Scotland game might have panned out if
it had been officiated in such a manner.

Entertaining match!
Standard lenient performance from Ramos. He is certainly a
different style ref to his Mexican predecessor Marco 'Dracula'
Rodriguez who could be a card shark at times.
There were some moments late in the second half where had to get
a grip on things, but he controlled it pretty well in the end,
no surprise given how experienced he is.

Quite literally picture perfect carding technique!
I do hope the player who was sent off appreciated it 🤣

He is rather scary in that photo! I'd not want to bump into him
down a dark alley!

No no, bmb, not scary, just authorative! The result of being
gloriously lanyard-free, meaning the whistle can remain in the
mouth whilst the card is being shown. I have long thought this
makes a referee look more commanding when taking disciplinary
action, or even just having given any decision that required a
whistle.
Before I am deluged with dissenting replies, I willingly accept
that mine is not a generally-held view in England, despite being
common practice throughout the known world.
I think the only reason the lanyard is almost universal in
England is because newly-qualified referees usually get given
one in their starter kit, and feel they ought to use the damn
thing. It then becomes a habit that sticks with them forever.
I never got on with mine, and binned it midway through my second
season.
As you can tell, I feel about lanyards as passionately as you
feel about y****w shirts, bmb. My username really did choose
itself!
