Ivory Coast vs Ecuador - Francois Letexier

Well, I have a feeling either we’ve caught the last 2 VAR Teams
on a bad day, or someone high up at FIFA has said enough is
enough!
I have seen people kicking off about the sign Shaun Evans used,
apparently it means some sort of symbol that isn’t liked by a
lot of people or something? I am not very clued up on that.

Well I’ve just learnt that a lot of professional footballers
don’t understand the concept of 60 seconds…
Letexier stopped play after Caicedo was down injured in his own
box who then jumped up almost immediately after the whistle was
blown. The referee correctly sent the player off the field of
play for 60 seconds under new regulations. I think Caicedo
wanted to come back on after 10. Good to see Letexier holding
firm with the 1 minute rule. Hopefully it makes players think
twice when going down under small contact and feigning injury.

Successful day at the office for Letexier in probably the
trickiest game to officiate so far. As for Caicedo going off, I
thought he only had to if the physio came on, not just if the
game is halted? I do agree his behaviour was pretty pathetic
though

Excellent performance as usual from Letexier. Very sharp and on
the ball - excellent level of control with cool, calm authority.
Tried to keep game flowing. Good awareness of all the new
directives, and he was spot on with the player needing to go off
- could easily have given a YC in the end for the ridiculous
reaction and slowness to just get off or the hystrionics on the
side line. Hopefully will start to put off players making a meal
of things.
