South Korea v Czechia - Amin Mohamed Omar (Egypt)

Goal for Czechia from a header from a long throw, possible
question over line of vision impact on the keeper but no VAR
review, good call for me. I’m not sure the throw in should have
been for Czechia in the first place though? Could be wrong, I’m
pretty tired🤣
Rest of the performance has been solid, but fitness and
positioning noticeably getting weaker as the clock ticks down..

I think it’s been a fairly absorbing match upto this point (
85th minute ) and the referee has hardly been noticed think team
ref has got everything spot in pretty much . There has been no
dissent from the players good onfield call by AR1 for the
disallowed Soucek goal

Re the disallowed goal, I’m not sure we can judge whether it’s a
good on field call by the AR or not.
The goal is initially indicated by the referee and it takes a
relatively long time for the flag to be raised. This is likely
as a result of the semi automated offside system that FIFA are
using:

I’m not sure what the AR hears in this case. There are two
Czechia players in an offside position at the kick point.
- Is it “delay” because of the marginal offside position of
Soucek?
- Is it “offside, offside, offside” with player names / numbers?
- Is it nothing / something else because there are so many
players together, so the AR has to use their own judgement?
- How quickly does any notification come through?
I’m not criticising the AR, because why would you put your flag
up for offside unless / until a system that tells you that the
player is in an offside position makes a call? I’m confident the
AR would have got the decision right without this system, as
Soucek is always in an offside position and never gets back
onside throughout the set up and play.
The system should mean more correct on field indications which
is a good thing. Just means the ARs whose offside positional
judgments were exceptional may not stand out.
