I like these graphics on ITV for the officials.
Poor Jerome Brisard looks like he has to stand for 90 minutes
from the VAR Room Camera!

Liking the names on the back of the referees kit too.
Solid start from Sampaio. He’s probably used to such a ferocious
atmosphere in stadiums given the rivalry in Brazilian domestic
football.

Forgive me but aren't incorrect GK/corner situations now falling
under the beady eye of VAR?
If so, they missed a very easy overule. Kinda get why ref gave
GK but was obvious on 1st replay it should have been a corner

My apologies apparently VAR only works one way which is to
correct corner kicks if they should be goal kicks
Another law that depends on if you're attacking or defending,
rather than irradiation errors- bonkers!!

Good from team ref so far. Easy red card - clear input from AR2
to show outside the area. Hopefully a sign for team ref for the
tournament to come!

Indeed the DOGSO was an easy decision but it was a top class
decision in terms of giving a free kick rather than a penalty
because he contact was just before the line but the players fell
in the box.
This has been an excellent start officiating wise by Sampaio

Agreed but it was good work by AR2 to call it outside the
penalty area.

So do what he did and give everything a goal kick…you’ll never
get reviewed and no one remembers tomorrow. The only thing was
Mexico nearly scored from that goal kick…
