Tactical timeouts whilst 'injured' goalies are 'treated' to be
banned at the World Cup. Good job too!

Still doesn’t stop the goalies from going down.
I’m sure the managers will be working on gestures and hand
signals to get their messages across.

With a 3 minute "drinks/advert" break they may not need to use
GK as much

The water / advert break might reduce the number of potential
tactical time outs, but they may still happen if the coach needs
to change things and the player cannot think it out for
themselves.
Also, whilst players will not be able to go to the technical
area there is no sanction if they do. A rule without a
punishment is not a rule at all.

I heard that the captain having to go off if the GK was
"injured" was being considered

That was an option discussed at the last IFAB meeting (I
believe) but was not taken up.

Collina finished by saying there was actually no ‘punishment’
(card etc), just that’s refs should be ‘proactive’ - so actually
they can simply carry on doing it whilst referee gestures at
people and they all ignore him/her …
Bit like the annoying ‘proactive’ idea of endlessly stoping
corners and warning GKs dramatically at penalties to stay on
line - simply performative …
