To be fair, it did look offside but it was close. I was just
surprised he flagged immediately since obviously thats not the
norm with VAR.

It was the correct decision but the margin was so tight that it
probably warranted waiting rather than flagging immediately.
The context is interesting though. Just before half-time he had
delayed the flag for a clearer offside and during the
continuation of play Marc Guéhi ended up injured while
challenging the offside player. I wonder whether there was a
half-time discussion about getting the flag up more quickly.

I should point out my comment about it looking correct from my
position was completely facetious! My seat is right down by the
corner, literally just to the left of the D, the only section of
the pitch I can say with 100% certainty on is the penalty area
down the Ted Shed end. There is no way I can honestly judge an
offside call that much further up the pitch and I often rely on
my own VAR (thanks Claretman!) or watchings replays on the big
screen virtually above my head!

Having taken a careful look at it, Haaland looks offside
compared to the Bournemouth player closest to the AR but with
all the errors of perspective and of frame selection it is very
close with reference to the Bournemouth 15 on the far side of
the pitch, who may have been obscured by Haarland and the
Bournemouth player closest to the AR. Think VAR would probably
have confirmed the offside but far too close to call live in my
view. Still Bournemouth played well and deserved their draw,
and Mr Taylor also performed well.

Good performance from team ref. I’m a very happy Arsenal fan as
I was last night screaming at Mr Taylor to blow the whistle at
96:00 even though I do think he probably should have played an
extra minute or so, but I’m not complaining. Overall I do think
Bournemouth were the better side and were unlucky to concede
late on.
Well done to Bournemouth for qualifying for Europe.
Performance again showing while Taylor is part of our top 3 in
the country, and would easily deserve to go far in the World Cup
this summer. If England don’t get to the final, it will be a
fight between Oliver and Taylor for the final.

No wonder you never made it as a player with an attitude like
that. In my experience every player, no matter where they are
on the pitch, can judge every offside decision to perfection.
Especially goalkeepers. ;)
