Such a delight seeing this fine specimen referee a game. I hope
football fans appreciate what they’re witnessing.

Certainly been feisty, nobody would be going without an error
here as they don't have eyes on the back of their dome, but he's
done pretty well. Got the Bamford caution spot on and dealt
with the handbags at the dugout effectively too. He'll struggle
to keep 22 on but it will be through no fault of his if the
tetchiness keeps up.

A double digit count in yellows, 2 off and it wasn't surprising
that the red cards would be out later in the second half.
He's done exceptionally well though and this game needed a elite
official IMO.

Wow! What a game!
Anthony Taylor has been fantastic, yellow cards, penalty and two
red cards absolutely spot on.
He has been in full control from the first minute because he has
been consistent and had a no nonsense approach.

These are exactly the type of games that English refs often try
to manage and end up making a right mess of the game. I felt
like Taylor took a fully European approach tonight with the
result being clear consistency throughout and the game kept well
under his control! Well done to Taylor and his team!

Am absolutely heartbroken but I thought Anthony Taylor had an
outstanding game let in flow and only intervened when needed.
Shame we can’t have refs like this every week.

I thought he had an excellent game overall in testing
conditions.
Of course there were some decisions that could have gone another
way and I think some referees might have found a foul sooner for
the first red card, but I thought he was firm and consistent
throughout. Yellow card for the dive was correct, penalty was
correct, most yellow cards, including the ones leading to the
red cards, were correct.

Thought his fitness and movement were excellent and in general
he had good control.
Personally, I wasn't convinced by some of the yellow cards. I
don't think it has to be all cards or all managed. Just felt he
could have tried to manage some of the situations. Unlike the
commentators and other posters, I wasn't totally sure the YC for
the 'dive' was justified. I'm not saying there was enough in
the contact for a penalty but neither did it look to me a
clearcut dive without cause. I also thought Derby might have
had a second penalty although it could be argued it was 6 of one
and half a dozen of the other I suppose. Good decisions for the
penalty that was given and the second YCs for the sendings-off.
So I wouldn't call it a masterclass but overall a very decent
performance in, as Readingfan points out, testing conditions. I
suspect some SG1 referees might have struggled with that game.

Wonderful game and excellent refereeing performance. That's why
they use SG1 referees on these games, that could have been very
difficult for a less experienced referee.

I disagree, the game was bubbling and needed a firm hand on it.
Some of the yellows in a calmer game could be managed but I
think he needed to have a firm grip on this.
