The KMI panel were split 2:1 but in a sample of 3, 1 agreed that
the award of the penalty was correct. Not a terrible call but
imho it was a case of re-refereeing the game, the handball not
being a clear and obvious mistake.

Willie Collum has backed the decision - the party line of "the
arm's in an unnatural position therefore it's handball" is wrong
subjectively and wrong in Law, IMO.

Makes me feel better thinking that I don’t understand handball
anymore when the head of Scottish refereeing also doesn’t, a
later handball decision he says is spot on also goes against
ifab with his referencing the t shirt line

Twitter seems to be erupting slowly after a picture is
circulating of John Beaton taking a picture with fellow Scotland
fans, who were making a pose seemingly mocking the handball…
Safe to say a lot of people are not happy.
I understand both sides of it - I can understand why people may
be angry, as the incident led to him having police protection,
fearing for his life.
At the end of the day, he is supporting his National Team, but I
think the pose in the picture may have been taken out of
context. Only those fans will know what they mean by the pose!

I’d personally feel people who are upset by this and genuinely
think it implies John Beaton is biased need to grow up and are
massively overreacting to a nothing photograph of a man enjoying
himself and joking around.
But John Beaton knows lots of people need to grow up and will
feel that way, so it was very unwise for him to take the photo.
Unless, as I guess is possible, he agreed to the photo, then as
it was taken they posed like that.
It’s a storm in a teacup for me. Beaton has probably
unnecessarily placed himself in the line of fire, but those
doing the firing, come on - get a life.

No issue with him agreeing to a picture with a group of people,
I’m sure they were all friendly. But if he knew they’d be making
that pose the wise thing to do would be to decline. Just creates
a bigger storm

He’s in a no win situation. Refuse the picture; he’s arrogant.
Agree to the picture; this can happen.
Sadly, it’s all part of the age of social media and camera
phones
