This is easier said than done. At what point can players go into
the 6 yard box? What if they accidentally go in? Can the
goalkeeper leave the 6 yard box? What happens if a defenders
left ankle strays into the 6 yard box; penalty?
Would this be a pro levels or grassroots? If grassroots, good
luck….

For those wondering, we have a Match Officials Mic’d Up
scheduled for tomorrow evening at 7pm on Sky Sports Premier
League and TNT Sports 1.
Hopefully, everything will be cleared up on the programme.

James Bell pointed out a foul to him (Wilson on Mosquera) which
occurred on Kavanagh’s blindside. Understandably, looked a tad
confused while Bell was explaining.
I actually thought Bell controlled the dugouts quite well
yesterday.

You can see CK mouthing the words "fourth official" to
questioning player before play restarts. It was a late
challenge that CK probably should have picked up, but he was
bailed out by good teamwork from the 4th.

I’ve said plenty already on this, and while I think it was the
correct decision yesterday I’m still doubtful an OFR would have
been recommended for potential penalty if the arm across the
chest was by defender on attacker.
For me this has been the most frustrating aspect of watching
football this season; that the “higher threshold” for offence
only applies if defenders do the fouling. This has led to, I
feel, a confused and inconsistent pool of refs across the
professional game and a confused and frustrated fan base.

VAR isn’t going anywhere because the clubs will keep voting for
it.
I also struggle to see how this decision has shone a light on
the issues with VAR when the system has correctly identified a
clear foul on the goalkeeper and correctly overturned the
decision.
Talking about the fouls by Arsenal players - it is down to the
PGMO’s insistence to ignore grappling and holding from set
pieces. The referees are staying consistent so I personally
cannot attach any blame to them.

Banning players from being in the six yard box for corners
sounds simple enough but would it really work? The forwards
would just pile in on the keeper and the defenders would still
do everything they could to stop it.And what about free kicks,
would they be included because the grappling goes on there as
well.
Let's face it. If this incident had taken place in the Palace v
Everton match for instance it wouldn't have received anywhere
near the amount of coverage.
Maybe a few cards or penalties are needed rather than a major
rule change especially as the authorities usually over
complicate what we would see as simple changes.

I wait to be proven correct when the audio is hopefully released
on Mic'd Up re: the fact that CK couldn't see it so it was
opened up to England to interpret it freely.
But I also suspect we may hear Webb discussing the dropping zone
and whether some of the other grappling made any impact on the
play itself. Not a fan of the chronology argument - think that's
a bit weak. The only probable foul I can see that comes close to
the penalty threshold seen in other similar incidents is Rice's
holding, but that happens way beyond the ball, which rightly or
wrongly, seems to be ignored given it's lack of possible impact
on the play.
Of course, I am happy to be proven wrong tomorrow night.

Thought I'd share a bit of City humour ......
"I’m really gutted Arsenal won but on a positive note, we should
all give credit to Declan Rice.
While a game of football was going on, he saved the life of a
colleague who must have been choking with the Heimlich Maneuver

Do the Laws allow referees to book players for holding etc
before the corner is taken? I remember seeing Rufus of Charlton
sent off at Newcastle for an incident of violent conduct before
the corner was taken. It was a while ago so not sure if the law
has changed.

Yes, a referee can caution a player(s) for holding before the
corner is taken. I’ve seen it a fair bit this season. I didn’t
like it at first but I’ve come to realise they only do it
because the ball isn’t in play.
