Right decision but think England should have sent Kavanagh to
the screen sooner. Because it took so long it creates the
narrative of "why give a foul if it takes 5 minutes to find it"
when in reality you could give it after 1 or 2 looks.

We should expect all incidents to get equal treatment, we’ve
seen it too much recently where that hasn’t happened such as the
violent conduct by Gabriel v city, by not treating it as normal
you influence things even more

On the first paragraph; if there is a foul, it is in the drop
zone. The referee should be looking and seeing that. If it’s off
the ball, that’s understandable. But this is literally where the
referee should be looking.
On the second paragraph; VAR is for C&O. Not for issues that are
50/50. Offside and goaline are factual, this was not.

Darren Cann (former Prem and World Cup Final lino ) just said on
5 Live he agreed it was a foul, and he has been calling for no
attacking players in the six-yard box before a corner is taken.
It's a simple Law change and would put a stop to the WWE antics
at corners. Good shout.

He has been calling that for a while to be fair, but this
incident would have happened anyway with players running into
the goal area.
I’d also add that if that was introduced, the keeper must also
remain in the goal area and not interfere with attackers until
the kick is taken

This is where officials at this level get lazy.
Coming through the ranks, I was always told thag on corners, I
should never be static. Have starting point and then move, based
on player location and where the ball goes. At higher level,
they stay static all too often.
If you’re looking through bodies, that is more often than not
down to poor positioning

It was probably correct to disallow the goal for a foul on the
goalkeeper but var has come to the wrong outcome. A penalty kick
should have been awarded for offences by Rice whilst the ball
was in the air prior to the goalkeeper being fouled.

This is easier said than done. At what point can players go into
the 6 yard box? What if they accidentally go in? Can the
goalkeeper leave the 6 yard box? What happens if a defenders
left ankle strays into the 6 yard box; penalty?
Would this be a pro levels or grassroots? If grassroots, good
luck….

hi,
thought team ref did a decent job in an extremely tense
atmosphere [emoji106] i believe the correct decision was finally
arrived at re: foul on raya - the length of time taken, which so
much going on and so much at stake, is immaterial - in fact, in
sky's commentary neville and drury praised DE and CK for the
logical, methodical way they worked through the incident -
perhaps if we heard it too, we would be less critical [emoji4]
massive three points [emoji1]
