Joao Pinheiro - Bayern Munich vs PSG

       Handball taking centre stage tonight.
There was a seemingly deliberate handball by PSG’s Nuno Mendes
who was already on a yellow card that happened right in front of
the Bayern bench. They were extremely unhappy when the referee
blew for a foul by a Bayern player in the build up. I didn’t see
what that was for but it didn’t please the Bayern staff.
They were incensed further when a PSG defender cleared the ball
into Joao Neves’ arm which was raised and away from the body.
Apparently, according to Ifab laws, this could not be penalised
as an offence because the ball was initially played by his own
defender. I was not aware of this law so could someone confirm
this please? I assume the correct decision was made.
I thought Pinheiro was ok. He looked a little bit more flustered
by the occasion tonight compared to Siebert last night but he
still had a decent enough game.
Final predictions? For me, the favourite would be Mariani of
Italy. I wouldn’t be against seeing Siebert there after last
night and Scharer must be the other in contention.

Would be a joke if mariani is there but I could see it knowing
       Rossetti.
Makkelie should be the favourite but will psg rule him out…
If nyberg has a good game under the eyes of carballo tomorrow we
       could see a surprise.

Why are there so many IFAB docs / directives on things not
actually mentioned in the laws? No mention I can see in laws of
the handball when last played by teammate. If true, it’s badly
worded anyway, as surely it means for an accidental handball in
that scenario (away from body, etc). As worded, it seems a free
pass for any handball after a ball played by a teammate (even if
deliberate)?? Could easily be a scenario where a defender
misplays a header / kick near to own goal and another defender
then handles to impede an attacker. If it’s a linguistic
difference between ‘is hit on the arm by’ and ‘touches’ then I
think this would be lost on most people and certainly would
confuse the average non-ref fan. Shows what an over-complicated
       mess the laws have become.
As for the final, surely has to be Makkelie. Not a fan of the
latest idea of repeating refs from the semis - should surely be
enough to spread around better - but as this is less of a
problem these days, he is long overdue the final and would have
       it on merit.

I cannot fathom the rationale behind this concept that handball
should be dependent on who played the ball last. If it is
‘accidental’ then it should only be relevant if it is directly
involved in a goal being scored anyway. So what is the point of
       this interpretation?

Fully agreed on the handballs. The decision to give PSG a free
kick following the Mendes incident was a mystery to me. Offside?
I don't think so and there certainly didn't appear to be a foul
on Mendes or any other PSG player in the build-up. Looked like a
bit of a cop-out to me. Clear handball by Neves, but if the
rules say this cannot be a penalty, so be it, not for the first
time this week, my knowledge of the laws and rules are clearly
       not up to date.

I thought personally Pinheiro was a shambles in the 1st half.
The Nuno Mendes 2nd yellow card missed was a big error in my
view. The Jao Neves handball in the box isnt a penalty under
laws/guidelines as discussed. Apart from that he looked like he
lost complete control of the 1st half.
2nd half was quiet and 10x better and much closer to the
       standard expected for the game.
As for the final, Rossetti has the chance to show he has the
ability to make big decisions by appointing Makkelie. I fear he
won't, if Mariani gets it then I really do give up. I wouldn't
be against Scharer or also Nyberg he does well tonight, however
I think they're more likely for the UEL and UECL finals
respectively. However, one of them could in theory get shifted
up to the UCL final if they want to give Letexier the UEL final.
Siebert is another possible name for UCL. I dont envy the
decisions the committee has to make in the next week or two.

I’d like to see Makkelie on the final but wouldn’t the 2 VAR
interventions in the semi final be a real stumbling block for
him? That’s why out of other options I went for Mariani, not
that I think it’s deserved but he’s been given games like Real
Madrid vs Man City and Liverpool vs PSG. Part of me thinks it
       might be his.
I’d be pleased if any of the other names you mentioned had it.

Don’t think the 2 ofrs should be the stumbling block for
makkelie when ya look at kovacs last season with his 2 ofrs in
qf but if makkelie doesn’t get it that will probably be the
       justification
