Daniel Siebert - Arsenal vs Atletico Madrid

A very impressive first 45 by Mr Siebert in my opinion. Been
very strong, calm and consistent in his decision making too.
I thought Trossard penalty claim was no penalty live and I don’t
think there’s enough for VAR to intervene. If there was
significant contact on the lower body then I would’ve said
penalty but I didn’t see much there.
But a very good performance so far 👍

hi,
ref seems well in control of things and has got everything
pretty much spot on - impressive stuff [emoji4] griezmann could
have picked up a YC for kicking the ball away in the first 10
minutes [emoji15]

Looked like a penalty there on Griezmann. Not convinced the
previous challenge was a foul

It was 100% a foul on Griezmann but it was also a foul on
Gabriel. A soft one yes but still a foul and VAR is never going
to overturn that.

This is a really ugly end.
Both dugouts cannot be controlled.
Tobias Stieler is chasing everyone.

That was an immensely impressive performance from Siebert in my
opinion. At hardly any point during 90 minutes did he look
flustered by the occasion and he delivered a calm performance.
If he’s delivering that on a weekly basis, he can count himself
unfortunate that he’s not heading stateside in the summer.
I felt sorry for him and 4O Stieler who really struggled to
control both benches with some horrible antics from both sides.
I was glad to see both managers pick up deserved bookings for
their actions too.
However, a small word for what must be a disappointed Michael
Oliver. I thought he was bound to get the UCL final however that
will not be the case now. Hopefully, a deep run in the World Cup
will be heading his way.

I thought he had a good game. Stieler meanwhile didn’t control
the benches at all which led to the nonsense we got in the last
10 minutes, but as long as managers are allowed to get away with
it (Arteta and Simeone being the main culprits), it will carry
on.

The Arsenal bench were the main culprits. They had what felt
like a million people running here there and everywhere. At
least Atletico was just Simeone and his coaches! Not defending
either btw.
Siebert was good. A couple of ambiguous calls where I think VAR
wasnt right to get involved. Stieler was shocking, he didnt
manage the sideline at all from minute 1. If he had done then
that wouldn't have been as bad at the end. Certainly not on
Arsenals side.
Toss a coin between him and Scharer for Budapest if PSG make the
final tomorrow. Otherwise Letexier is surely the candidate now?
Also, even though i doubt Atletico would've scored, he was at
least 30 seconds to a minute short in added time!

Thought Siebert was superb. Calm, strong control and allowed
game to flow. Waved away players from both teams falling over
and was consistent with this throughout. Key decisions spot on.
Only issue was the benches - seems crazy to me to allow managers
to be 20 yards out of the box, running town the touchline, some
times on the pitch. Will inevitably spark trouble when
‘accidentally’ in the way and nearly blew up at end. Also lacks
credibility to give both a YC in final 2 mins! Just do it much
earlier and have done with it and draw a clear line. Would like
to know if team decision to turn blind eye or if Stieler was
just inept?

hi,
crazy scenes off the pitch in the last 5 minutes including YC's
for both managers plus players who had been subbed a long time
before [emoji15]
i would imagine the officials were glad it didn't go to extra
time [emoji4]
