If that’s about playing another minute than indicated, then
Oliver was absolutely correct to do so.
He even clearly indicated to the players and crowd that when the
ball went out for the corner that preceded the City goal, the
Everton substitution that happened in added time was the reason
of another minute or so. If anything Everton didn’t learn their
lesson in the first half when giving Doku that amount of space
to shoot.
Oliver was fantastic last evening.

It seems Everton fans and Moyes were upset about a non-penalty
decision when Silva appeared to grapple with an Everton player
at a corner who ended up on the ground. Only saw 1 replay and
I'm not sure much was made of it at the time. I don''t know if
Oliver was looking at it but assume VAR reviewed the incident.

I did mention it earlier in the thread and I agree with Everton
that it should’ve resulted in a penalty kick.
But I did also say Paul Howard was right not to intervene to
stick with a level of consistency with what has been awarded (or
rather not awarded) this season with regards to holding and
grappling.
It’s the type of incident that has gone unpunished far too often
this season and it needs to be cut out.

Was a stonewall penalty for me. And PGMOL's own guidance backs
that up.
But as TA_Ref says, they tend not to punish......annoyingly

Clattenburg is saying Silva was lucky as a penalty couldn't be
awarded because the corner hadn't been taken.
That's interesting because normally a referee would stop the
corner being taken or order a retake after speaking with the
players. That didn't happen so does it suggest Oliver didn't see
it or decided to let it go?

Having criticised commentators in the past for their limited
understanding of the Laws, it is only fair to commend Andy
Hinchcliffe for his immediate, clear and accurate-to-Law
explanation of this incident, delivered with precise and
appropriate terminology.

I haven't seen an angle yet that confirms whether the ball was
in play or not. And I'm struggling to find anything online- has
anyone got anything?
If ball wasn't in play, then it certainly can't be a pen. But
agree that you'd expect MO to at least have a word

I thought their guidance to VAR was to only get involved if the
holding was in an area where the ball was going, i.e. it was
impactful. If I remember the incident correctly wasn't the
corner headed clear at the near post, if so there's no way it
was getting anywhere near where Silva was holding an opponent?

That's not quite true. Whilst it is a consideration, there are
others which would allow the referee to penalise, regardless of
whether its impactful to play e.g. hold with both arms, not
looking at the ball, sustained (see attached)
