He must have been standing on something (or someone) - an
adoring fan or his wife maybe - on BBC Breakfast News, he was
head and shoulders above anyone else at the away end and he's
not that tall!
Seriously, brilliant from Mike, but has he harmed his chances of
refereeing key games involving the Mersey teams?
I think we can take it that Mike will be at Wembley on 25th May
but not in charge of the L2 Playoff Final. But could he be
staying on to referee the L1 or Championship Finals? He needs
the L1 Final to complete a clean sweep of the Finals.

Personally I would trust him to referee Tranmere. He is a
professional and would act accordingly.

I think it is brilliant! It also shows how much passion referees
have for the game and that they are true football supports too.
As I think a lot of football supports believe referees just turn
up to ruin a game of football but that is so far from the truth.

Ah yes, the Ice Cream Van stand, an experience few are ever
likely to forget in a hurry. I ventured in there once when the
Palace were playing Crewe in the Championship. And the referee
was ...Mike Dean. Palace were lucky to get away with a 2-2 draw.
How fortunes have changed!

I don't know what, if anything, Mike Dean would have made of it,
but I think that Eddie Ilderton's decision to send off Carl
Winchester of Forest Green for a second yellow, was extremely
harsh. More sinned against than sinner comes to mind, and with
over 20 minutes left on the clock, it undoubtedly didn't help
Forest Green's cause.

I didn't think the second YC was merited for that incident, but
felt Winchester didn't help himself, his first caution was for
dissent, he kept getting in the referee's face and think there
was a foul by him just before the second YC.
