       Not a name that gets very many mentions on RTR but this
       afternoon I took the game in as an interested neutral.
       It was nice to see a game between two honest sides  without the
       intensity of the Premier League.
       The referee let the game flow and to be honest  don't think he
       got a great deal wrong.
       South Shields won by a single goal scored from the penalty spot
       in the first half however as the game wore on it was natural for
       it to gradually ramp up a notch or two but he was unfazed as the
       visitors began appealing for absolutely every decision including
       a disallowed goal where he immediately retreated to a safe space
       and waved the protesting players away before then dealing with a
       skirmish as we went into injury time.
       No yellow cards thrown around and that was made easier by the
       players of both sides not throwing themselves around and waving
       imaginary cards in his face at every given opportunity.
       As a mere supporter may I ask if NL [North/South] would be his
       general level during the season or is he from a higher grade ?
       He certainly impressed me this afternoon.

       So far, all the Referees appointed to Step 1 to 6 Playoffs have
       officiated at the same level this season.  The only possible
       change might be Step 2 playoff finals with Officials from the
       National List.
