Not unseen or unheard of. Sometimes happens in playoffs or
knockout stages in various competitions.
Providing the first performance wasn’t poor, people rarely ever
complains when something like this happens. Take Siebert for an
example!

There have been a few examples of first leg play off referees
taking charge of the same league final, most recently Tom Nield
in 2023.
For second leg referees to also be appointed to the final it
used to be quite common in the play offs but that is going back
some time now. Examples include David Pugh (Leyton Orient 2001),
Eddie Wolstenholme (Walsall 2001, Charlton 1998), Rob Styles
(Gillingham 2000), Mark Halsey (Gillingham 1999) & Clive Wilkes
(Leyton Orient 1999).

Delighted for Josh Smith….i seriously doubt Steven’s,James and
reserve Graham are anywhere near the top of the merit table but
hopefully they won’t let Josh down….he deserves better
appointing from those that decide these prestigious
appointments.

James and Graham are both regularly with Barrott in the UYL,
Stevens has had a Premier League game this season, James has had
multiple. Nelson already has a Wembley Final this season. Those
are the officials no doubt at the top of the list. The only
other candidate would be Dallison but James, Graham and Nelson
are no doubt up there and favourites to be promoted.
I could put money on one of them 3 being top of the Merit Table
in fact, or even them being the top 3 on it.
Struggling to see your point if I’m honest.

No surprise there in my opinion. I think Reeves has been the
favourite for that for quite some time.
