Chris Kavanagh Man Utd v Brentford

I can't rewind so im not sure, but in around 34' or 35', when
Igor Thiago is through on goal and theres a right mix up in the
box, I think one of the MU defenders plays a back pass to the
keeper where he picks it up that has gone completely under the
radar. Would be interested to see if anyone else saw that or am
I gone crazy.

Understand why you might think that in a replay but watching
that live I never had any suspicion of a back pass and that
would’ve been almost impossible for Kavanagh to call on field.
I’m not certain the pass was deliberate anyway.
Very good from Kavanagh in this half. Stayed in the background
and cautioned when needed to.

Easy pickings for Kavanagh in the first half. Both cautions were
nailed on and has hardly been noticed.
Entertaining contest thus far.

Really disappointing from Kavanagh at the end there - penalising
Collins twice for ‘pushes’ on Casemiro where there was virtually
no contact and Casemiro went down like an empty packet of crisps
in the wind.
A shame because the rest of it from Chris was pretty much
faultless.

Why put hands on him though to give the referee the decision to
make? As Gary Neville said, Casemiro totally played Collins, it
was very naive by the Brentford captain.
This behaviour by players makes it impossible for referees, they
have mastered the art of making it look like they were pushed
when they weren't really. And that isn't just a criticism of
Casemiro as I have zero doubt that Collins would have done the
same if he was defending his own penalty area.

Because football is a contact sport and you need to actually
push someone to commit a foul rather than just touch someone.
Casemiro didn’t ’totally play’ Collins. He totally played the
referee.

Missed a caution for Fernandes pushing a Brentford player into
Kavanagh otherwise made it look easy and was always in control.
Good performance

I would argue he played both, but Collins can control the
outcome more than Kavanagh can. The referee will see the arms
come out, what looks like a push and the player fall over, if
the arms don't come out he doesn't see that.
