Those in charge of the game seem happier to meddle with things
that aren't broken - like giving 7th/8th in the Championship a
play-off place - rather than do something that would help the
sport. Fully agree that it should be a three up/three down - our
resident Tranmere reporter might be relieved it isn't, as things

For there to be an extra promotion place there has to be an
extra relegation place from the EFL, and therefore the EFL clubs
have to vote on it and agree. Some of them, especially those in
League 2, see that as being like turkeys voting for Christmas as
they could be the ones to find themselves in the extra
relegation place.

That wasn't the final game of the season, with a 'Winner Takes
All' scenario, though, plus the way the list is compiled has
changed since then.

It was the 3rd last fixture, both teams hadn't dropped points in
goodness knows how long. It was broadcast worldwide because of
the Wrexham effect and it was the moment that swung them to
promotion. Whilst not winner takes all, still probably the 2nd
biggest game in recent National League history.
When it comes to the lists yes im aware of the change in
structure. However, I think that someone from the current
National list who regularly enough handles National League
fixtures would suffice. A bit of Kettle anyone?? ;)

I get the impression that Europe referees one way, the
Premiership another, while the EFL has a non Premiership way of
refereeing. For this to be a fair indication of the better team
I consider that it should be refereed by the best National
League referee so that the players are not taken by surprise by
any change of emphasis.

Drysdale refereed York yesterday.
And he won’t be back at Spotland for a while after his faux pas
in the Scunthorpe game.

There’s no such thing as a “National League referee” anymore.

Given that its one list from League 1 to National List it should
be a refereee in the Top5. It is a more important game than a L2
PO 1st leg and is probably as important as the National League
PO final itself.
Or give it the credence it deserves a send a deserving SG2 -
someone like Webb would be ideal
