M OLIVER - Real Madrid v Bayern

Usual high quality stuff from Oliver in the first half. Only the
one card which was deserved.
His credentials for the final will have been done no harm
whatsoever with this level of performance.

Oliver, excellent again as always. No other words needed.

Nothing much to say other than faultless.
The Tah yellow could have been classed as SFP but I was happy
with just reckless. Surely he’s favourite for the final now
pending Arsenal and Liverpool not progressing

In the event of no English teams in the final, he looks the
favourite alright.
If Arsenal were to make the final, you'd probably say that
Makkelie (or maybe Letexier) are the 2 options.
In the event of a PSG-Arsenal final, UEFA have a bit of a
problem. All 3 above options are excluded (Makkelie not allowed
do PSG after previous incident) which would mean someone
(perhaps by luck) would get the final. Zwayer is an option,
however it seems he is being punished for his poor season with
Siebert having temporary seniority. However, outside of Zwayer,
I really cannot think of another candidate. UEFA will want to
avoid a PSG-Arsenal final as it will make things very complex
for choosing the final candidate.

I think if Oliver receives a European final, Taylor will most
definitely receive a very good game in the final stages of the
WC this summer, or the other way round.
Both have been exceptional and consistent this season.

I am not exactly as clued up on European officials as others on
here may be but would a Spanish referee be in contention, have
any been particularly good this season? Could the likes of
Scharer (SUI), Eskas (NOR), Pinheiro (POR), Nyberg (SWE), Peljto
(BIH), or even an Italian referee be in contention?

Spain are really struggling for a Lahoz replacement and will be
lucky to even have a referee at the World Cup. Scharer and
Peljto likely won’t be going either. Pinheiro is a new elite.
The other two or a German would be the only candidates (unless
UEFA decide PSG need to stop moaning about an incident from 4
years ago and send Makkelie)

Even though he's only joined the elite list in the last few
years I could see Mariani getting the final if it was
PSG/Arsenal....

They’ve gone with Hernandez Hernandez which is a big surprise
for me…
Gil Manzano has been appalling in recent games, and Sanchez
Martinez hasn’t been setting the place on fire either…
There is an argument that no Spanish ref should be there…. with
Scharer very unlucky not to go.

Hasn’t Scharer been selected as a reserve? I could be wrong.
Politics has played a part I think. There’s no way Hernandez
would have gone if he wasn’t Spanish (although I do think he is
the best of a very bad bunch)
