I wasn't entirely expecting Backhouse but I am certainly not
complaining!
Very well deserved in my eyes after some great appointments over
the course of this season and I look forward to seeing how it
goes for him!

Very pleased with the two Ipswich appointments with two referees
who have had really good seasons.
It’s another excellent appointment for Anthony Backhouse and
happy with Farai Hallam down on the south coast.
Good to see John Brooks back in action too.

Another massive game for Backhouse - surely he will be knocking
on SG1 door in a couple of seasons time. He’s been excellent
this season.

If Anthony Backhouse is knocking on the door for a SG1
promotion, then that is massive kudos to him because unlike some
others who have been part of the ERDG and others who have pushed
in the supplementary group (obviously not saying this is a bad
thing at all), Anthony has put his name in the limelight by
producing excellent performances on a weekly basis and his
appointments this season have reflected that. He’s certainly
been a top performing referee in the championship this season
and I might even say he might be in line for a first leg
championship playoff game (if not then at least a second leg
league 1 playoff game).
