Ed Duckworth- Lincoln City vs AFC Wimbledon

Big big miss by the officials here. Pretty clear handball to
‘assist’ the winner. Think Mr Duckworth misses it, as he’s
rather flat footed, and doesn’t seem too concerned with
following the ball in.

Poor , pretty obvious really infact he almost caught it .
Results should not be decided like that .

Under the old law that would be disallowed, but under the
current law there has to be a decision as to whether the player
intentionally handles the ball or not. It definitely his his
arm but the debate will be was it intentional handling, the fact
a goal was scored doesn't come into the equation as the goal
wasn't immediately scored.

Not sure who would be having the debate. It can’t be anything
other than deliberate handball

I was there (great day, terrible game!) to be fair I couldn’t
understand what they were complaining about til the replays
after. Whilst I’m not sure the motive of the attacker is
entirely to handle the ball, I think this is an expected
handball….even more so than one that is pelted at a player and
it goes in by itself totally accidentally.
This aside Duckworth didn’t get much wrong but fell into (what I
would consider) the trap (maybe even the norm) of ignoring
contact on an attacker yet penalising the attacker for the same
offence on a defender, and applying a totally different
threshold for cautions in each half. I kind of get the reasoning
but it doesn’t sit well with me and totally winds fans up.

I watched Mr Duckworth at Crawley v Gillingham last week. I was
really surprised as to how much physical contact he allowed
without penalising. Shirts nearly pulled off. But he played on.
In some respects the game benefited however in the second half
he gave free kicks for non contacts and no fouls which was a
shame because it spoilt his consistency which caused uncertainty
on and off the pitch
