C BREAKSPEAR - Newport v Mansfield

O'Brien very lucky to survive on 5 mins after what looks like a
clear DOGSO. Surprised at the leniency from the card shark in
that instance.

Any thoughts on the Newport penalty decision?

Sending Off, could've gone either way. Red for me, but I think
Day would of got to the ball and the defender is on the cover.
Penalty is spot on. Azeez knocked the ball past Logan, and was
fouled. Penalty.
Solid Performance from Breakspear. I am, possibly in the
minority, but I think Breakspear is beginning to develop into a
safe-pair of hands. Don't like the "card shark" label either.

I think "Card Shark" has become a term of endearment (Mike Dean
is another) and has been widely accepted that Mr Breakspear gets
the majority correct and does not shy the big decisions (have
not seen last nights so will not comment)

I would lean towards red but can understand why the referee
would have doubt about who would have got to the ball first.
An odd moment just before 40 minutes where a free-kick was given
to Newport just outside the penalty area. The line was sprayed
and the wall taken back 10 yards, defenders came up for the free
kick etc. and then suddenly the referee went to speak to the
assistant and they decided it was offside. Presumably the
assistant wanted to clarify something but you'd have expected
them to have sorted it quicker.
