Looks like Storm Dave has damaged the Riverside ground up at
Durham and fans told to stay away….

Its a plot by Kent to escape with a draw (said the die-hard Kent
supporter!)

Hampshire started at Durham two years ago - not a ball was
bowled
If they must start the season this early they might be wise to
have Durham playing away

Or conversely, scrap the 16.4 over tripe that’s been designed
and start the season later when the weather is more favourable!

The covers were blown off the square into the north east stand,
the stand the came from the 2012 olympics for those that know
the ground. The sight screen at the finchale end (commentary box
end) was damaged and blown over. They were playing to the west
of the ground nearest the changing rooms so the site screen was
tarpaulins On a steel structure (temporary). It looked ghostly,
straight from the castle?
As the covers were blown off the wicket resembled that of an
uncovered pitch similar to those in 1960s and 1970s for those
who old enough to remember them. Play was abandonded for the day
due to the wet wicket. It has been windy but at this time of
year not sure if the wicket will dry out sufficiently for play
on day 4 (tomorrow).
Such a shame for the spectators.

Interesting to see Ian Ramage as Match Referee in the Yorkshire
match. I believe he was on the ECB umpire list from 2018-2021
and formerly was on the ICC list representing Scotland. Likely
he has joined the ECB Match Referee list- although they never
formally announce the lists anymore as we all know.
