Another great game by Garreth foul detection absolutely spot on
some good calls made by him, however his 2 linos may have not
help 1st offside away side on the attack midfielder played the
ball in I’ve slowed the replay to kick point of the ball and
looks to me the last defender is clearly player him on however
Lino flagged for offside, Carlisle one I think maybe the same
but the Lino flagged few seconds later and Carlisle went on to
score to the disappointment and anger to the home fans I think
that was more offside then the away sides one, all in all good
game for the officials points shared for both teams great game
of football post were hit and crossbars a few times. Looking
forward to seeing Declan browns performance on BH Monday at Home
against Scunthorpe which is potentially a massive game for the
home side if Brackley can’t get an a win at Boston and we get 3
points that would make us 9 points ahead them with 3 games left
going into Aldershot on Saturday just needing 1 point to stay up

My previous 2 or 3 times seeing Scott Jackson have been around a
4/10, this was a 6/10, so better, but nothing to write home
about. He played a couple of nice advantages and even more so
pulled back ones that didn’t come to an advantage expertly and
issued the required cautions. I thought he was a noticeably
quick mover, which is interesting as I remember noting in a
previous appearance he seemed to be a bit sluggish, so I wonder
if my theory that day that he was carrying an injury was true.
No real incidents of note, but one slight flash point when Scott
correctly stopped the game for a possible head injury when
Colchester had a brilliant chance - very unfortunate but with
the attacking still progressing (i.e. no shot was imminent),
Scott had no choice. Danny Cowley was rightly booked for a bit
of a confrontation with Mickey Mellon.
The one thing I thought all the officials were poor on,
especially AR1 Rob Smith, was giving really soft free kicks to
defenders for both teams - anytime there was contact between
attacker and defender in the final third, especially in front of
Rob, Scott would blow or Rob would flag. I actually liked seeing
the assistants confidently use their flags but any jostling or
competing for the ball seemed to automatically be an offence by
the attacker. Lisbie was eventually booked late on when the game
was lost for a clearly frustrated rant in Rob’s face.
A good game that Colchester will feel unlucky to lose but Oldham
were the better team in both boxes. Our season is long gone, but
I thought Oldham were very good and they look well placed to
sneak into the top 7.

Some distances covered for Doncaster Rovers matches. Devonian
Lee Swaby doing the home game against Mansfield Town and
Suffolk's Alan Dale at Exeter. Some big mileage claims and
possibly overnight stays for the PGMOL budget.

atrocious the last time we had him (which was recent).

Safe to say, it was only 1-0 but on a different day it should
been 4/5-0!
I didn’t look too impressed by Salford.

I wouldn’t necessarily say it was the best performance I’ve seen
this season nor was it the worst. Paul and team were ok in a
game which saw Crewe score 1, which should’ve really been about
5, and Salford look extremely poor.
I felt he gave a lot of soft free kicks to Salford, especially
second half. The home crowd were getting on his back for this.
2 cautions, both in the 96th and 97th min. One each and both for
SPA, you can’t argue with either of them really.
AR1 was a lot better this time around, and he had to flag a lot
so then Paul could give it - it was really weird. It was almost
like Paul didn’t want to give the fouls so AR1 was like “I’ll do
it instead then!”
7 mins added second half was rather excessive, considering not
much really happened. We needed this time on Friday!!! I guessed
5 maximum.
Paul was always up with play etc everything you want from a
referee, but I think his recognition of offences was slightly
inconsistent and favoured the away team.
But a great game for a neutral to watch nonetheless! End to end
for some parts of it.

I was quite close to the pitch behind the goal today so didn’t
have the best view of the game, but I wasn’t very impressed with
Will Finnie. Foul detection did not look up to scratch and he
missed at least one caution, it was more like the Will Finnie of
5 years ago.
Wycombe had a claim to double their lead with Walker making a
save from behind the goal line. I thought live that it wasn’t
quite over the line, replay is unclear but we might have got
away with one. No chance for AR Greg Read to be certain either
way as he had the keeper between him and the ball, interestingly
the same AR who failed to award a clear goal to Andy Cook
against Salford last season!

It was reported that an assistant referee travelled to Sutton
Coldfield instead of Sutton United for the match vs Southend
today resulting in a late change. The report reads:
The official's error meant a very late change was made to the
team for the match between Sutton and Southend with David Holden
and Tom Hutton serving as linesmen, while Steven Hughes worked
as fourth official.
However, the appointment say Nicoleta Bria was an AR.
Which official seemed to travel 140 miles wrong direction then?
