Lincoln could be promoted today if they match Bolton’s result
and if Stockport don’t win.
Lincoln’s game: Ed Duckworth
Bolton’s game: Charles Breakspear
Stockport’s game: Elliot Bell
Would one of these massive games not be worthy of an SG2
referee?

To be fair, Duckworth and Bell have had a number of championship
games this season so are clearly under SG2 consideration anyway

There are still six matches remaining after today. It would be a
major shock if Lincoln don’t get promoted being so far ahead.
Certainly an impressive season from them.

Bradford City FC (First Team) v Northampton Town FC (First Team)
Football League 1
Referee: Coy, Martin
Assistant Referee: Wilson, Marc
Assistant Referee: Simpson, Joe
Fourth Official: Archibald, Matt
Martin Coy becoming a regular at Valley Parade and no complaints
from me if that’s the case! First half he was absolutely spot
on. Second half not so much - it was close to getting out of
hand after a 10 minute wobble between 50 and 60 minutes - but he
managed to bring it back and finished the game smoothly.
Both ARs were really good. Can see why they will be joining
Martin at Wembley. Congrats to all 3 of them.

Accrington Stanley FC (First Team) v Crewe Alexandra FC (First
Team)
Football League 2
Referee: Mackey, Oliver
Assistant Referee: Hallam, Aaron
Assistant Referee: Clayton, Samuel
Fourth Official: Lawson, Steven
This performance screamed inconsistent at its finest. But for
both teams. 4 KMI’s for the officials to deal with, yet one they
got right imo. The first was a potential penalty for Accrington,
at the end of the first half and I quite simply cannot believe
how it wasn’t given. Our defender’s arm was straight up in the
air in an unnatural position. It was really easy handball to
spot and Oliver was looking at it, so I’m not quite sure how he
didn’t give it. The second KMI was a potential offside for
Accrington’s second goal, and imo looked offside. AR2 didn’t
give this though. The third KMI was for another offside - this
time that AR1 did believe it was offside against our striker
(who actually did score). This was the one I believe they got
right - just. The fourth KMI was another potential penalty for
the home side, and this one our defender grabbed hold of the
attacker to prevent him from reaching the ball. The attacker did
chuck himself to the floor which may be the reason why it wasn’t
given - otherwise penalty for me.
He cautioned 3 Accrington players (2x dissent and 1x unsporting
behaviour) which were all correct. He cautioned 1 Crewe player
for a reckless tackle which was fine, but nothing had happened
in the game at this point so maybe a talking to would’ve been
the correct outcome, but I can see why a caution was given.
Oliver didn’t cut down on Accrington keepers time wasting. All
he did was warn him about it yet no caution was produced, this
wasn’t reflected in just 4 mins added on second half, which was
at least 3 mins below what it should’ve been.
Oliver had good rapport with players as you could see he was
laughing with a couple of them.
Overall, an inconsistent refereeing performance along with a
shocking away performance!

Inconsistent Crewe strike again!
Sounds like they need a clear out in the summer.

It’s been like this for years. We seem to perform better against
the top teams! Looking at our fixtures left hopefully that’s the
case 😂
Accrington weren’t even good, we were too open so they easily
had chances! Crewe didn’t look bothered at all. No urgency
whatsoever, strolling around like it’s a charity match. Subs
were questionable too. (Bringing off our top 2 goal scorers)
Our remaining games: Salford, Grimsby, MK Dons, Chesterfield and
Cambridge. 3 at home, and 2 away.
This is going to be fun!

Breakspear dished out a red for violent conduct at Plymouth.
Seems to be splitting opinion, I think he got it right though.

If there was only 2/3 games left then maybe I would say yes but
there’s still a long way to go so you have to trust these
officials.
And also, Duckworth and Bell are two referees who are seemingly
pushing the boundaries of a SG2 promotion and Breakspear is one
of the safest and most experiences National List officials there
is. I don’t particularly see an issue with these appointments
today.
Although saying that, Lincoln’s winning goal today should have
been ruled out for a deliberate handball in the build up.

Just stumbled across a TikTok of Daniel Smith being pushed down
by a player trying to run down onto the ball! Not something you
see everyday, in my opinion I know the player was running a tad
fast but could he have avoided Dan or is that more of my
optimism? It just looks like he ran straight behind him and then
pushed him over! Dan didn’t look too impressed either and
rightly so!
