For the working person I can appreciate that it is. For us
retired ( though not retiring ) types every day of the week has
the potentiality of being Good.

Is it just me being optimistic or could Backhouse be in line for
at least 1 PL game this season if things get thin in SG1 in
terms of injuries towards the end of this season?
He has now gotten 2 (and probably more) massive games and seems
to be performing amazing in them.

He’s certainly been given some excellent matches this year and
performed excellently in them. A SG1 promotion I’d be uncertain
of. When you think of some of the current officials that are
being pushed (incl, Kirk, Hallam, L Smith) I’m not sure he’d be
in and amongst that group. I also don’t see the size of SG1
reducing any time soon. I don’t think there would be many that
close to calling it a day yet (Michael Oliver has been around
for years and he’s still only 41!)
I too like Anthony as a referee and when I’ve seen him this
season I’ve generally been pretty impressed by his performance
level. Let’s see how he performs today.

Backhouse was excellent earlier, the ever glorious Goodman on
comms didn't think so however.
Nield has been excellent in his game, mistake for the penalty on
75 yes, however dramatic Hinchcliffe has spent the whole game
slating him and sounds like hes about to explode now.
Unnecessary ref bashing in the media needs to stop, these 2 are
the common culprits.

I think I am with the majority of football fans when I say Don
Goodman is truly insufferable. I cannot stand him and neither
can the majority of fans in the EFL. His football knowledge is
atrocious. I remember when my team Ipswich were promoted, one of
our players called him out on an open top bus parade.

I think you’re glossing over Nield’s penalty decision a bit much
there. Agree he was good generally, but that was an absolute
howler and unfortunately has turned a good performance into one
less than satisfactory.

Some big games on Monday in the relegation mix and I am glad to
see suitable referees on them, as expected!
Portsmouth (21st) vs Oxford (23rd) - Josh Smith
Blackburn (19th) vs West Brom (20th) - Rob Jones
Sheffield Wednesday (24th) vs Leicester City (22nd) - Leigh
Doughty
A big game for Gavin Ward too in the promotion mix!

Kitchen not being used too much now after early season exposure,
I guess his tendency to get key decisions wrong have halted his
progress this season.

yellows in fairly brisk fashion late on…
