For reference this is what he said, 5 mins before half time:
“ Ref in the England game has been brilliant at letting the game
flow. Checked his nationality and he's German. This is why the
Bundesliga is so easy to watch. Their refs are brilliant and
getting the game flowing”

Given that he broadcasts Bundesliga games on his YouTube
channel, I don’t think you’ll find him being overly critical of
things related to the German division.
He’s one of many that almost constantly bash officials on social
media. Says a load of rubbish and nonsense when it comes to
refereeing most of the time.

I am at a loss as to how with comms, a 4th AND VAR, a Graham
Poll incident takes place. He was poor from the first obvious
foul missed in the 7th minute.

While not wishing to defend the indefensible would the match
have been as much of a revelation of England’s pathetic
performance if it had been 11 v 10. Surely the way to handle it
would have been to give the manager the chance to substitute
him, on the basis that he was going off one way or the other,
thereby keeping the match on a more useful level playing field.
It pleases me tremendously to see that we are not the only
nation that can’t manage VAR.

My view is VAR shouldn’t be assigned anywhere near friendly
matches.
Waste of time, waste of resources.

The whistling has always been a typical German thing for some
reason. Reminded me of Markus Merk who was the worst for it!

I remember doing something similar in a grassroots friendly I
officiated once. The home defender was fouled so I gave a free
kick but he then proceeded to get up and kick through the player
who fouled him. It was a clear red card but was obviously
reluctant to show it so I pulled the two managers aside and said
“look, I don’t want to send him off because it’s a friendly. Is
there something we can agree with to still let it be 11v11?” And
the problem was resolved by taking the player off and he didn’t
step onto the pitch again and the game continued with no issue
whatsoever.
I understand this is the professional game which is markedly
different to grassroots football but can we use some common
sense? (I know the answer to that is no…)

No one has perfected VAR and anyone who says otherwise is living
in cuckoo land…
