No referee at the elite level should get that wrong, especially
with 3 other officials in the ground + 2 VAR’s. Incredibly poor
performance tonight

You would never see that level of officiating on a Sunday league
pub match.
For a FIFA official to officiate in a friendly, and make a
complete dogs dinner of it in that fashion takes some doing!
I’m sure the 80 odd thousand fans in Wembley were more
entertained by the random basket case decisions than the
football itself!

A pointless friendly brought to life by some comically inept
officiating.
We all bang on on this forum about how poor some of our
officials are here in England but I would have them officiating
a game over this one any day of the week.
Second yellow card rescinded? A clear second caution for
dissent. The guy should have walked for that.
Allied to the challenge on Foden which was a red card challenge
and then the penalty at the end just about seemed up a terrible
game and a terrible refereeing performance.
I never thought I would see another Graham Poll type error in a
game but the one crumb of comfort is this is a friendly so it
will be glossed over. This referee would struggle in Sunday
morning parks football.
There were a lot of over dramatic gestures and lots of elongated
whistling from your man and really it just wasn’t good enough.
For a supporter of referees like myself to say this it must have
been bad. And it was.

What I find almost as baffling - this referee is one of the most
senior referees in Germany. Not exactly a developing nation!
He’s done Champions League and World Cup Qualifers this season.
He did Dortmund v Bayern last month.
How can someone that experienced have such a shocker?

Well talking about bringing refereeing to a new level. The badge
should be taking off all the officials..

I don't have a problem with the penalty in isolation, especially
had it been given on-pitch, the attacker got the ball first and
White kicked him. The problem is with the VAR involvement,
they've stayed out of what was a pretty blatant SFP red card
decision, which was far more of a clear and obviously wrong
decision than the potential penalty that they did get involved
with.
As for the Ugarte situation, it really couldn't be any more
clear that he cautioned him twice. If what ITV said was correct
the 4th official was trying to get him out of the mire, but I
really don't see how he gets away with that and it will be very
difficult for him to recover his FIFA career after a mistake
like that.

According to match of the day on Facebook ugarte picked up 0
yellow cards and the first was actually jose Maria giminez
Looking at the replay of the first booking it does seem possible
that it wasn't given to ugarte

out why we can’t have that in England..
