Sheffield Shield Final 2025/26

Match official appointments for the final of Australia's
domestic First Class competition have been announced:
Victoria v South Australia (Junction Oval)
ON-FIELD: Sam Nogajski and Shawn Craig
TV UMPIRE: Donovan Koch
FOURTH UMPIRE: Phil Gillespie
MATCH REFEREE: Kepler Wessels
No shock that the four International Panel members are involved.
Eighth(!) consecutive Shield final for Nogajski (2020 was
cancelled) while I believe it is Craig's second. I was expecting
Donovan Koch on field again but it's nice to see it shared
around.

Very interesting to see Shawn Craig on-field; all prior
indications have been that he’s the 4th ranked amongst them.
Wonder if this will be Nogajski’s last prior to an Elite
promotion

Interesting that Craig has been preferred to Koch when the
latter is clearly rated higher by the ICC. I wonder if it’s
because Koch hardly stood in any Sheffield Shield matches this
year due to him officiating in internationals and going over to
India to officiate in a few of their domestic matches?

Having watched highlights of all five days of a very good final,
Nogajski had an excellent game and his stock is rising,
certainly internationally. He has to be very close to making ICC
Elite Panel status.
Shawn Craig was a little more inconsistent. He had the lions
share of the decisions but one or two were marginal.
Very good game of cricket to watch where there was a genuine
contest between bat and ball.

Even Mallender didn’t get 8 domestic finals in his career, given
how often he was appointed! 😂
