Hopefully he gets a decent gmae or 2 in ucl closing stages.hes
had a raw treatment considering his performances this season

I remember seeing Anthony Taylor's first match at the Stadium of
Light which was the opening match of the 2010-11 season and the
reason I recall that particular afternoon was because he had an
absolute shocker. Yesterday was the total opposite and I thought
he gave an excellent performance and as derbies go it was played
in a pretty decent spirit which was really helped by his
handling of the game.

The first match referred to was fifteen years ago towards the
beginning Anthony Taylor's time at the most senior level of the
domestic game. Since then has become an excellent referee
officiating at a world class standard. All people, whatever
their profession, take time to adjust to promotion to a senior
level. There are going to be mistakes as experience is gained.
For that reason those who demand that after one bad match a
referee should be "reduced the the ranks" are wrong and
unwittingly would be creating a situation where there are no
experienced senior referees.

Just seen a very interesting post on a Sunderland message board
showing the two goals from the camera being worn by Anthony
Taylor.
it brings a very interesting perspective to proceedings.

I don't know if you got the wrong end of the stick with regard
to the meaning of my post or simply making an observation but I
agree with what you are saying about relegating referees.I know
it was early in his career and I was just highlighting the
difference between the young fella I saw for the first time and
the one I witnessed yesterday. It must be up there with the best
refereeing performances I've seen in many a year

No, not at all. I think we are singing from the same song sheet.
When a referee attains a new level of seniority there are going
to be some really bad performances as they adjust to the higher
level of play and scrutiny. Every great referee will have had
some real stinkers when first attaining a new level of
seniority. Talking with a friend of mine who was a senior FL
referee ( what we would now call SG2 but he retired before that
category came in ) he said that it took him about three years to
really establish himself and that was just about the same for
every referee. You get used to the faster pace, the more devious
arts and most of all you get known by the players and management
and build up a level of trust. After three years it's usually
possible to tell if you are going to make the grade or not.

Taylor. Wonderful communication to go with his wonderful
performance.
I am sure he got 100/100 if not very close!
