       C KAVANAGH - Fulham v Burnley

Very good this afternoon from Kavanagh, and he’s getting back to
how he was performing before the unfortunate FA Cup match.
Penalty was spot on and it has to be a red for Laurent for
       pushing over Jimenez.

How can a player taking a penalty go backwards without having
       first stopped?
Twice the Fulham taker went backwards - to me this is a offence
by the penalty taker and having resulted in a goal, should have
       been retaken

Under law it is perfectly legal. I’d much prefer it wasn’t and
we did away with the run up nonsense, but officials have to go
       by the law.

I understood it is a "continuous motion" which if a player goes
backwards means they have slowed to a stop (I know it's
semantics and physics but surely that kind of run up has to
       outlawed)

Ideally, yes. But current law allows it

Nothing in law currently to say it has to be a continuous motion
sadly. Feinting during the run up is permitted. Feinting before
kicking the ball once the run up is complete is not permitted.
