Socks

I am aware that it is/was a Barbarians tradition that players
brought and wor their own club socks. Catching the women's match
on TV, I see that Harlequins are playing with what appears to be
one reddish and one greenish sock. Is this their normal attire?
Their opponents, Ealing Trailfinders, also have odd socks,
though less obviously as these are merely ankle length, with
different colour tops.
Even more oddly, the referee has one black sock and one white
one. So too do the touch judges. Is this some political gesture?

It could be linked to Down’s syndrome awareness - I know we have
odd socks day at school to highlight awareness for this cause
