On the subject of the Champions League, I did enjoy the random
shot of Peter Walton grinning from ear to ear after Tottenham's
late winner yesterday - I wonder what his reactions are when VAR
is about to make a big decision!

Probably a look of sheer panic!
Pleased for both Liverpool & Spurs, both have managers I
like/respect & both capable of playing some beautiful football.
Should be a good final. Skominia or Rocchi seem to be the
popular suggestions for candidates to lead the 3rd team. Should
be an excellent game for us neutrals!

Maybe Mr Oliver?
As both teams are from England there's no bias either way.

I don't think that UEFA would ever do that anyway but certainly
not in this case considering Oliver is relatively inexperienced
at Champions League knockout level and has not used VAR as much
as some other officials.

Personally I'd prefer to see a European final between an English
club (I say club rather than team as there are precious few
English involved) and a foreign club.
These two just seem like a couple more routine League matches.
Oh for the days when ONLY the champions went into the Champions
League. No zillions of pounds for UEFA then though.

Agree - it's unfair on the smaller nations whose champions only
go into qualifiers for the CL and have to stand by and see those
finishing 3rd/4th or whatever it is from bigger nations go
straight into them. If they want more teams from the big nations
then they should go into the qualifiers only and the smaller
nations champions should go straight in along with the big
nations champions.
