Stoke v Ipswich - Tom Kirk

What game, a great comeback by Ipswich but I am afraid it was
thwarted by what I can only describe as a dreadful, penalty
decision. I say this as a Boro supporter who is very pleased
       with the result.

Personally disagree with the penalty decision, not certain who
does more of the pulling, Cajuste or Kipre, but either way, play
stupid games, win stupid prizes. Pulling someone in the box is
       certainly a stupid game

Performance in general play? Great, no issues whatsoever.
Penalty decision at the end? Rubbish. Well done for rewarding
simulation. Contact is not a foul. I expect to see lots of
penalties at the Stadium of Light on Saturday. From an Ipswich
perspective, it should never have got to that situation anyway
so they only have themselves to blame.

My head is on mars. Game after game we are getting in these
positions and giving away fouls which are costly. Wouldn’t mind
it if we tucked the game away early, but we never do and then
       make silly mistakes.
Can’t comment on the penalty as I didn’t watch it, but I see a
       mix bag from different fans.

Fan view: A first Stoke penalty this season - at last!
Ref view: On the softer side but you can argue two defenders
impact Cisse, with neither really playing the ball. Cajuste has
his arm across Cisse's chest having misjudged the flight of the
ball, while Kipre hand on the shoulder from behind. Can
       understand why he's given it.
Not sure if it was ever picked up but Kipre had a kick out at
Smit off the ball in the first half that went completely
unnoticed - there was no difference in that compared to what
Sorba Thomas saw a second yellow for from Ruebyn Ricardo on
Saturday, so we always bemoan a lack of consistency.
Overall, a draw a fair result on the reflection. Didn't think
Ipswich had to do much for two of their goals - deflection & a
GK error - but that's another story. A solid showing from Kirk,
but wish he'd have clamped down on dissent in the first half,
       especially from Azon.

Is Tom Kirk a fully paid up member of SG1 or is his forthcoming
appointment at Sunderland this coming weekend a trial game ?
No issues with him but just interested to know.

I’m pretty certain he’s in the SG Supplementary List and I’d
also say he’s at the forefront for SG1 promotion this summer
       with Farai Hallam.
This will be his 4th Premier League game this season and has
shown 3 RC across the previous 3.

If I’m honest, I think the priority order at the moment is Kirk
       - Kitchen - Hallam - L.Smith - Donohue - J.Smith.
Possibly could swap Kitchen and Hallam but I do believe Kitchen
will get it before or at the same time as Hallam.

Going back to the penalty decision last night, now having had
some time to think about it, I still think is wrong. However, I
have to give credit to the Sky Sports pundits Curtis Davies and
Luke Chambers who I felt analysed it perfectly.
They felt that Tom Kirk was thinking about more of the context
of the challenge and how it came about rather than the incident
on its own merit. I think it was Davies who said Kirk probably
realised Kipre went out to try and win a ball that was bouncing
on the halfway line which eventually went out for a Stoke throw
so Kipre was well out of position. Stoke played it quick and
Kipre was in a bit of a rush to get back and he only really made
it back to his position when he committed the challenge. I
actually felt Cajuste’s holding was slightly more impactful but
he gave the offence against Kipre and gave him a YC for it.
The pundits also pointed out the potential foul on Azon in the
build up to Stoke’s 1st goal, which for the record I dont think
was a foul, which had some similarities to the incident at the
end. And they felt the referee was inconsistent in penalising
those specific offences when they were very similar.
As I said, no excuses for Ipswich. Air kicking and players out
of position in the 95th minute is criminal and they only had
       themselves to blame.
Hoping for a nice non-controversial display from Tom Reeves on
Saturday for which I will be in the away end so hopeful I can
       provide a positive report.

Kieran McKenna has today came out and said the PGMO have advised
him the penalty should not have been awarded.
Ipswich are getting rather unlucky recently!
