Crewe are awfully inconsistent at the moment….
That’s been our issue all season. (And in fact for the majority
of Lee Bell’s reign as manager).
We either play really well or crap. There’s no inbetween.
To put it straight - we aren’t getting playoffs.
Some questionable tactical decisions too have cost us games.
(And playing hoofball which never works)

Well I needing have posted as Mr Marsden another bad game,
missed an obvious red card for me but yellow was given. At some
point I felt he couldn’t control the game for both teams he
seems very indecisive on handing cards out wonder how he got
marked but the assessor in attendance
Sounds like a standard performance. He was demoted in the olden
days and now in the new age of things still gets decent games.
I’m baffled.

Mr Marsden was 4O in our NL play-off final v Boreham Wood
suggesting that he was the second best referee in the NL behind
Neil Hair that season. It was hard to see why, but that's when
he got first elevated to the FL list.

Fleetwood Town FC (First Team) v Tranmere Rovers FC (First Team)
Football League 2
Referee: Heaslip, Emily
Assistant Referee: Nolan, Oliver
Assistant Referee: Wade, Stephen
Fourth Official: Kennard-Kettle, Zac
Something of a mixed bag for Ms Heaslip on what was her FL
debut. It was a game where Rovers largely adopted negative
tactics to end another losing run and the hosts radar was such
that the game could have gone on until midnight without them
converting one of numerous chances. Her reputation in the WSL is
of an official not afraid to produce a card and that seems
confirmed by 4 red cards in 5 games in her NL appearances this
season. Btw, I've not seen any of them, or anything to suggest
incorrect calls.
The positives were a good levels of fitness and positioning,
being alert to injuries and good communication including hand
signals, so the crowd had a better understanding of her
decisions. Her main weakness was a rather erratic foul
detection. In the first half, there were two occasions, one
where a reckless challenge by an attacker made contact with a
Rovers player, but the decision was play-on. The second was a
prolonged tug on the shirt of a Rovers defender not signalled as
a foul and the ball reached the attacking side in consequence.
The far side AR, Mr Wade who was even better placed to see this
failed to flag too. Both ARs had used their flags during the
game, so it didn't appear Ms Heaslip adopted a comms only
approach. Fortunately for the officials, no goal resulted, as it
would have arguably been a KMI error. The near side AR Mr Nolan
had a good game.
Three YC in quick succession, all for Rovers players at the end
of the first half. The first two seemed on the soft side though
I wouldn't say were wrong; attacker runs into defender who is
standing his ground and a player losing the ball on the right of
the Rovers box and deemed to have fouled in the resultant
skirmish, but the third for Brough who tugged back a Fleetwood
player who'd got past him absolutely nailed on. However, there
was an incident midway through the second half, when Whitaker
was taken out, with no attempt to play the ball around the
half-way line; what looked like an obvious YC not issued by the
referee, who just awarded the free-kick.
Sadly some gender-based chants from sections of the away crowd
unable to handle the idea of female referees in the male game,
which is frustrating.

I believe that’s an EFL debut for Emily Heaslip - with 2 games!
Crewe with Stephen Parkinson, who has already refereed this
fixture last season, and Steven Copeland, who gave Crewe a
penalty last season at home to Notts County which was ludicrous!
I'm hoping to see a better performance from Stephen Parkinson
than when I last saw him at Crewe Alex.
Apologies for the use of the Old emoji, AT, it was uninentional.
The two games Mr Parkinson was in the middle for Rovers games,
he has not impressed and made a KMI error missing handball in
the build-up to the Milton Keynes goal
On the highlights footage, the Walsall opener looked well
offside and the penalty call was as bad as the one Sam Mulhall
gave for Oldham against Rovers in near identical circumstances.
At least you had the small consolation of the keeper saving it.

Wigan Athletic FC (First Team) v Bradford City FC (First Team)
Football League 1
Referee: Humphries, Andrew
Assistant Referee: Cooke, Thomas
Assistant Referee: Harty, Thomas
Fourth Official: Nield, Jack
Andrew Humphries’ games often seem to be a mixed bag. Yesterday
I thought he didn’t put a foot wrong for 80 of the 90 minutes,
but there was a five minute spell in each half where the
officiating was Sunday league standard. The last 5 of the first
half was the first of these spells. I don’t think he got
anything right at all. Then in the second half, he had already
spoke to Callum Wright regarding dissent when Wright then
committed a foul and then provoked one of our players starting a
confrontation. Andrew very disappointingly just let it happen
taking no action. 30 seconds after this restart, Wright
committed another foul 25 yards from goal, and still no card..
really poor.
I like his general approach of allowing the game to flow. I
think he will become one of the more trusted names at L1 and L2
level but the championship will be just beyond him.

Have any of those people that are expert ARs from the stands at
the Crewe game actually watched the first goal back? Because it
looks onside to me. Maybe there's a reason Mr Guest is operating
on the professional game and the stand dwellers aren't?

One reason he missed the offside was that he was not up with
play, and that was stated by a Walsall supporter who was on the
side the assistant was running the line, and said it should have
been disallowed as there player was clearly offside.

I’m aware of what they said, and obviously the camera is placed
as such that I’ve no idea whether Mr Guest is in line, but all
we can judge him on is accuracy of his onside/offside judgement
and it looks to be very correct to me. Photo attached. This is
as close to the moment of the pass (or attempted shot) as I can
get it and the arrowed blue player looks to be being played
onside by the circled red player…
