Wrexham v Chelsea (FA Cup) - Peter Bankes/Paul Howard

Not seen all this game but a correct VAR intervention in second
half stoppage time saw Dobson sent off.
Initially Bankes gave a yellow card but Paul Howard recommended
an OFR. It was a high, late challenge and at speed. It looked
worse the more you looked at it.
(Edited, unnecessary personal attacks not welcome here )
It was a red card for me. Peter Bankes is having a good game and
controlling things well. He is having a decent season IMHO.

hi,
decent, entertaining match to watch with the sending off being
the turning point of the game [emoji15] the irony obviously
being that if it was in a previous round, the YC would have
stood [emoji16]
on the whole wrexham didn't look outclassed and i'm sure they
will turn their attention to cementing a play-off spot in the
remaining fixtures [emoji106]
regards,
gnr

Bankes had the same angle as the viewers did at the time of the
incident, and I thought that the yellow was fair. Replays from a
different angle told a different story. Red card was correct,
and I can completely understand why Bankes gave yellow
originally.

Their disallowed goal would also have stood in previous rounds
as I don't think it was given on field by the AR.
What is the difference between a player waving an imaginary card
(YC) and players crowding round the referee telling him in
effect to change his decision (no cards)?

Watched it live on TV and sensed there was some doubt over YC v
RC. Bankes’ body language showed he was looking for / hearing
advice from somewhere (AR?) and took a while to show the YC.
Thought he had a very good game - handled game well and let
things flow.
