I think there is something terribly wrong with a system whereby
a referee who was subjected to a lot of (edited)after a wretched
performance can spend hours trawling through a video of the
match from all sorts of angles to find something to
retrospectively accuse a player of. It's a poor look and smacks
       of vindictiveness.
I hope, but doubt, he spent an equal amount of time reviewing
       his errors.
If he was looking to re-referee this game, I wonder what he made
of Azon being held in a head-lock in the same incident and more
particularly Okell's retailiatory kicking out at Davis.
Unfortunately finding out the mechanics of how this charge came
to be has only served to lower my opinion of Busby as a referee
       and, now, as a person.

The bold text makes everything else you say not remotely worth
       reading.

I didn't embolden any text. If youre going to quote my text,
please don't change it. Perhaps not the best choice of words but
there can be no getting away from the fact that the outpourings
and outrage from the crowd were as a direct result of his
       repeated incompetence.
       [/quote]
You didn't. I did... to point out which part of your quote I was
referring to. It has since, suitably, been edited out by a
moderator. Nobody ever deserves to be abused for an honest, even
       if erroneous, days work.

"outpourings and outrage from the crowd" is an entirely
different thing to "self-inflicted abuse" and of course is
perfectly acceptable. Strong and trenchant criticism of a
perceived incompetence is understandable and justifiable, abuse
       is not.

Definitely for the better. Anyone that thinks referees are
eligible for abuse for making a mistake are part of the problem.
I got served the wrong food in a restaurant tonight, clearly a
mistake, but I didn’t feel obliged to hurl abuse at the waiter.
Nor did (I hope) the waiter and the chef had to be escorted out
       of the restaurant.
