I think his headset packed up with the weather and had to get a
new one installed.
Matt Wilkes was clearly seen speaking to a wolves player and
gesticulating towards his headset at the time Pawson went off…

It’s really poor for imo for top level officials to have to deal
with equipment failures. I have no doubt the technical staff
work extremely hard and no blame whatsoever on them, but if a
referee needs to leave for a number of minutes as Craig did,
something has to improve.
A good performance otherwise I felt?

I wouldn’t be great in this area but are refs using different
comms this season where the earpiece is slightly different gling
over the ear.
Good chance it’s the same comms with this minor change but also
could be a reason for all the tech failures(rarely if ever seen
it before this season)

I’m sure he was also glad for the opportunity to change a very
sodden blue top as well. It looked very dry when he returned to
the field!
