Thomas Bramall - Man City v Newcastle

Very good again. No real complaints from me, thought he missed a
couple of fouls here and there but once again a consistent
performance from Bramall while shining brightly in yellow.
All the YC’s were supportable but I did think Silva’s one was a
bit harsh considering he won the ball but overall controlled the
game quite well in my opinion.
I enjoyed the TNT commentary team comparing Constantine
Hatzidakis to Karin Benzema! That wasn’t a comparison I was
expecting to hear today.

Not sure about posters on here complimenting the Display. I like
bramall but he lacked authority in a game where there’s a lot of
needle. IMO both silva, for a disgusting bodycheck on burn, and
joelinton for persistent cynical thuggery should have been sent
off

Another game with a no look challenge. Eyes never on the ball,
always on the attacker who was taken out. Cynical AND just after
the City player had been cautioned. Should have been a second
yellow imho. City were lucky in this respect.

I don’t massively disagree with you tbh. It was a similar case
for Bramall in the Coventry v Boro game last Monday. The game
started to get scrappy with lots of fouls and I believed he
could’ve stamped his authority but on the game a bit more. It
was more of a hope the game calms down without massively
intervening which has worked for him the last couple of games.
Silva could’ve been given a second YC I agree but never felt
Joelinton done enough to receive a second caution.

I note that Jay Bothroyd said on Ref Watch this morning that the
ref was right not to give Silva a second yellow because he is so
little and Burn is so big! That man is ruining Ref Watch with
his inane comments.

Agree that Bothroyd talks waffle, and will always see things for
a simplistic POV. But I don’t think Dermot helps matters. He has
defended the indefensible many a time.
Refwatch would be far more productive if they released the comms
during it. I appreciate Dermot gets some insight, but I don’t
think he explains things particularly well, as to how or why a
decision was made. With the comms, we’d at least have an idea of
the officials direct meaning.
Plus, I think the delayed aspect of ‘Mic’d Up’ just leads to
conspiracy theories of editing etc.

I can think of much stronger words to describe Bothroyds
offerings rather than “waffle”.

These two reams have seen rather a lot of each other and there
is another to come. I felt some scores were being settled. And
some controversial decisions in the games hasn’t helped in that
regard. The first yellow for Silva was for a challenge that
often wouldn’t be given as a foul, so two wrongs if not making a
right at least cancelling each other out. Burn was certainly
‘putting himself about a bit’ and I suspect that was Silva
getting a bit of retribution. I think it caught Burn by
surprise! There did seem to quite a lot of inconsistencies but
they seemed to me to be fairly evenly distributed.
We also had a bit of a collector’s item with a yellow card being
given for hauling Haaland to the ground, think size differential
argument might be more widely taken into account than we think?
