Oxford v Sunderland - Tom Kirk

Two decisions in this match that went against the home side but
from my perspective, they were both correct.
First half penalty, there is clear contact by the Oxford
defender and a rather rash challenge with the Sunderland player
going nowhere. Tom Kirk was confident with his decision and it
was right. The BBC Sport correspondent said it was a
controversial decision but I respectfully disagree.
Then in the second half, Lankshear is tussling with O’Nien as he
chased onto a long ball over the top. The assistant spotted a
clear shirt pull by the Oxford player so the goal was ruled out,
again a correct decision.
Be interesting to hear the thoughts of our esteemed Sunderland
correspondents on these decisions.

I thought both were pretty clear, from the initial angle I
couldn’t tell if the defender had knocked the ball out of play
but replays showed he didn’t.
The only thing I think he got wrong is booking Isidor, it’s a
foul by the defender (not given) and both players end up on the
ground.
I would also like to see what Luke O’Nien did to get booked as
no camera caught what actually happened just a player down off
the ball
To be clear if you leave a game thinking only a yellow card was
wrong that’s a pretty amazing game

Seeing everything through my beloved Sunderland's eyes then both
of those decisions were spot on.
It was a tough tie for us but a proper no holds barred blood
and thunder game of football and I suppose from Tom Kirk's
perspective a difficult one to manage but one he did his best to
control.
On the BBC hys where the game is reported there are obviously
differing viewpoints.........and some which for one reason or
another are not repeatable on a polite forum such as this
however it is what it is and we move on.
No problem at all with the referee or his assistants
particularly the one who spotted the shirt pulling on Lukey.
