       Brentford v Arsenal John Brooks

I really rate John Brooks as a referee. But, I don’t think he
has been overly consistent. He cautioned a Brentford player for
a clear pull back but failed to do the same for an Arsenal
player. I’d also say he has given a few ‘soft’ fouls in my
       opinion.

       hi,
the early card seemed to suggest the ref wasn't going to stand
for any nonsense, but sadly he's been a little inconsistent
since and as has been previously mentioned, he's let a bit go
but has given some very 'soft' fouls [emoji15]
wouldn't have believed keith andrews would have been booked
       before arteta [emoji3]
       regards,
       gnr

Big fan of Brooks, but that first half I had to agree with the
Brentford fans “You don’t know what your doing”
Confidence maybe a little fragile from the weekend

How has Gabriel not collected a second caution there?

Because it was just a foul, it wasn't stopping a promising
attack and wasn't really reckless. I wouldn't even be saying
caution if it was his first one, there's no way on earth a
professional referee is giving a second yellow for that.
I must have been watching a totally different game to everyone
else, I thought Brooks was fine. A bit of a soft foul against
Yarmoliuk as he ran through towards goal, but other than that
can't think of anything significant he got wrong.

Totally agree with rustyref. I don’t understand how anyone could
claim a yellow card for that challenge. Wasn’t SPA as he was
well out near the corner flag. The challenge wasn’t reckless.
I’d be very concerned if we’re giving yellows for that.
Not Brooks’ finest evening in my opinion. Didn’t think it was a
particularly easy game to officiate. Lots of physical battles
and holding etc which made it quite challenging to be
consistent. Brooks was a tad inconsistent with punishment but
never had any impact on the game as a whole.
